Organics Recyling
We are proud to offer our customers food-service utensils and containers that are made of materials that can be organically recycled. Benefits of organics recycling include:
- Reducing landfill mass by up to 30%
- Generating carbon-rich soil
- Cleaning up contaminated soil
- Biodegradable packaging requires less fossil fuel in its production
What can be Organically Recycled?
The Gopher Spot offers a number of products from World Centric that can be organically recycled. Currently, the following items at the Gopher Spot fall into this category:
- Cups & straws
- Forks, knives, spoons, & plates
- Food: pizza, hotdogs, bananas, fruit, sandwiches, etc.
Organics Recycling is also available in Pattee Hall, Morrill Hall, Hanson Hall, and Rapson Hall, along with all of the UDS Dining Facilities.
The Gopher Spot also offers paper, plastic, aluminum, and tin recycling. Check out the University of Minnesota's recycling program.
